Enforcement

Florida law gives a court entering an order continued jurisdiction to enforce its orders to ensure that all parties comply with all rulings.

Contempt

Contempt is either a refusal to obey a legal order, mandate or decree or an act tending to embarrass, hinder, or obstruct the court in the administration of justice or to lessen its authority or dignity. Orderly government demands that respect and compliance be given to court orders. The court’s contempt powers can be used to enforce non-payment in support matters. This situation is serious and the defaulting party could potentially be fined or even placed under arrest for the failure to comply with a court order.
